Nic has four teeth!

Nic now has four teeth! We thought he just had the lower two as that is all we had seen. A couple of days ago when one of the babysitters in Boulder was playing with him she had him laying on her legs and she saw the other teeth!

I felt like I was looking at a dog's teeth when I pulled his lip up a little bit so I could see them and sure enough, two upper teeth, well out, so he has probably had them for a bit!

Nic has learned - sort of - how to drink from a straw

Nic learned today how to drink from a straw - sort of. If we hold the straw with our fingers over the end and offer him it with a drink he will suck on the straw to get the drink! Prior to this I could give him a drink from a draw but only if I just let the liquid drain from the straw - but now he will apply suction to the straw while I am holding the drink in from the other side! Go Nic! The drink possibilities are starting to open up!

Two words combined and No!

Oh man! Jac is improving his language by leaps and bounds! Today he started saying "Oh No" and "All right", two things that I say pretty frequently! Two words combined together! A big developmental milestone!

Ama and I were letting him drive the car (while parked of course) and he kept on saying "All right" over and over again!

Also, all day - "No!" no matter what you asked him! You could have asked him "Do you want to drive the car for real?" and he would have said "No!" Oh man! Cute - and happy about it - but "No!" This is really the first time he has started really saying "No" to everything - I guess I should be glad since he is 25 months old!

Back in Colorado - temporarily

Ama, Jac, Nic and I are back in Colorado - temporarily - fixing up our condo to get it ready for renters. We are going to try to rent it out as a furnished rental so we have to get things just perfect! I am not sure that the boys are helping - but they are trying!

Two of my boys

I don't even know where Grandma took this picture! So sweet!

Nic with the fly swatter

Nic is still a screamer! (literally) in the car. The other day I purchased a fly swatter for Grandma and decided to give it to Nic to play with in the car to see if it would calm him down - it worked - for a little bit ;)

"Airplane"

Jac loves airplanes and he loves to say the word, "airplane." He says it all of the time even when there are no airplanes are around. I think he says it sometimes when he hears a sound that reminds him of an airplane.

We are in Boulder, with Ama, and on our trip here we were in the coolest spot in LAX. It is Gate 1 in the Southwest terminal. You get a full view of all of the airplanes at the gates in the terminal and a side view of the runway so you can see all of the planes landing!

Jac loved it! He hung out with Ama most of the time we were waiting for our plane just watching!

So happy to be back in LA

We are so happy to be back in LA. Smog and all.

Family! We had friends and family over to my parents' house tonight and it was so great - my sister is here also - and it was so relaxing - we miss the Perletzs though.

We have forgotten that you have to plan your trips and timelines around traffic here. We have gotten so used to the lack of traffic in Boulder!

Man the air is so much dirtier here. I always knew it wasn't great but living in the clear blue air of Colorado for two years really brings it home. I hope that the boys lungs had enough time in the clean air.

We are still waiting to move into our apartment. There was an incident with the carpet - black lines caused by a vacuum cleaner - and so we are going to be a week late moving in. Not good for Joseph's productivity.

Family! and friends. Food and traffic. Diversity. English and many! other languages.

We miss our dogs who left for Colorado with us and have not come back.

We are happy to be back with the two additions to our family!

San Francisco and New York

We have been quite the moving family in the last few weeks! We have been to San Francisco for one of my bridesmaids weddings and then to New York City to see an endocrinologist for Jac.

We had a good, if very busy, time in San Francisco. We saw a bunch of different friends of ours, drove around a lot, stayed in a nice hotel, went to a wedding and didn't get a lot of sleep! That seems about par for the course traveling with two little ones!

Then we were home for a few days and then off to New York City! Man that town moves fast! We had a nice time. We got to see Alexis and Chris, Matt, Ali, Madeline and Caitlin and my parents were there also - so the whole Johnson/Marsh/Chiu families were together!

Nic decided that he really didn't want to sleep in NYC and Joseph ended up taking him on late night (read 1 am) subway rides, which they both seemed to enjoy! I think Nic is teething his top two teeth as he has been rubbing his face on things, and banging his face on things. He is pretty happy though, as long as he is not in a car seat (so much for that getting better yet!)

I celebrated my 35th birthday while we were in New York. It was a bit anti-climatic - I seemed to be the only one that really thinks 35 is a big deal. I have made a big deal over the years that I was done having kids at 35 so it feels momentous to me to have reached that age - perhaps most think that 40 is a bigger deal but for me 35 seems big!

Nic has now learned to climb an entire flight of stairs. Before we left for NYC (between trips we were back in LA for a few days) Nic climbed up 5 stairs in my parents' house. At my brothers place in NYC he climbed up an entire flight of stairs! Oh man! He will climb anything he can figure out how to lever himself on to. He climbed onto the Queen mattress on the floor tonight when we were going to bed and he is trying to figure out how to climb onto the couch.

Jac is also climbing more - he has started to climb onto chairs - even if the path to climb them is multi-step! We also spent time on this trip teaching Jac how to get in and out of elevators with his own suitcase and on and off of escalators (with a lot of help)! He is getting pretty good at the elevators and can do it by himself - we help him with the escalators!

The boys both like the subway - no car seats! Nic likes to make friends with people and hold onto the poles - Jac likes to watch the people and things go by and sits happily with Daddy!

Long time, no blogging!

It has been a crazy few weeks so I am going to have to do retrospective blogging - I am going to "back-blog" meaning I am going to put dates in the past on my posts so that when they are read they are in the right order chronologically - the last post before all of this "back-blogging" is July 27th!

Jac is two years and 1 month old (25 months)

How time flies! I can't really understand how my little boy is now two years old and some!

Jac is everywhere! Climbing on things, really! fast walking, talking up storm - taking on the world.

He is stubborn, and persistent, figures out how things work once he gets his hands on them. He stares at people - in a cute way!

He loves to takes the caps on and off of things and insists upon doing it! He wants to drink anything we have - it doesn't matter what it is. He is really good at using an open cup without help - until he decides that it is more fun to shake the open cup than it is to drink from it!

He love his brother. When Nic is upset he gives him pats and kisses sometimes. He gives Daddy and me kisses. He kisses his Grandma. He is not so sure about his white-bearded Grandfather yet.

He likes Ama's cooking.

He doesn't like to sit in his high chair.

He usually gets in his car seat easily and talks to himself there or watches things out the window and then asks for Ne Ne. When he is done with his Ne Ne now he will frequently say Ne Ne and hand it to me to take! Love it!

We have turned his car seat to face forward. I couldn't take the rear facing anymore.

He takes baths with his brother, just the two of them in the tub. I started that when we got to LA last month because it was easier and they do really well! Jac plays with the water and likes to use the shower wand himself. Nic stands and moves around the tub and gets sprayed by his brother.

Jac is getting taller - and stronger. He is starting to really climb on things - up onto chairs and other things he can get onto.

He is a sweet, loving boy and I could not be happier to have my two sons and my husband!

Nic's feast

Uncle Wayne took this video when we went out to eat dinner with the Chiu family. Daddy was still in Colorado and so missed it!

Nic is ten months old

How time flies - especially when you have two little ones - and are moving - and traveling!

I am writing this on Aug. 13th and Nic turned 10 months 12 days ago! Man!

So what is our little guy doing - or what was he doing 12 days ago!

Crawling - a lot - pulling up on everything!

Chasing his brother and hauling him down to the ground to sit if he has something he wants!

Being very cute!

Making lots of different sounds - not word like - but many different sounds.

Crying in the car - make that screaming bloody murder in the car.

Nursing a lot - especially at night.

Eating lots of solid foods. He doesn't like eggs - it doesn't seem to matter what form they are cooked in - he will take them into his mouth but then he spits them out.

Eating lots of solid food - but if he doesn't want it he spits it out. Eating with his hands in/around his mouth - so that no matter what you feed him he puts it in and out of his mouth and it ends up all over you and him.

Laughing and cooing a lot! Smiling a lot! Making friends with strangers. Living up to his nickname of "Hands" - and grabbing anything he can reach - including other people!

Being loved by his Mom, Dad and brother!
