While it might take an infinite number of monkeys an infinite amount time to type out Shakespeare's Hamlet, it only takes a few whacks for him to lock out the keyboard, reconfigure our browser setting, or even send out e-mail missives to strangers. (Fortunately, after the fourth time, Daddy has figured out how to unlock said locked keyboard without powering down the machine.)
When I close the lid to protect my machines from his customizations, he protests that he is not done. So, I decided that life might be easier if he got his own computer to work on...
He enjoys his machine, greatly. He gets enthusiastically busy at the keyboard and then, with his work completed, he leans out with both hands extended to latch the computer lid closed.
A very necessary skill in your family!

Emmett always loved typing in a Word document, hitting keys and seeing what appeared on screen. Now, he's more into little kid games online, and Luke is into "typing" in a document.
ReplyDeleteA couple of days ago, Emmett (age 5) told me he needed his own computer so he could play games in his room without Luke interfering. I wasn't expecting that so soon!
Awesome! You're teaching him right!
ReplyDeleteIf you're really into fostering his computer skills, check out some kid oriented sites. Here are a few of my favorites:
