Jac is continuing his progress in bottle feeding! Although he still occasionally takes a gavage (3am and 3pm on Saturday), he's now feeding mostly from the bottle. And when he's on the bottle, he usually finishes 70% or more. On Saturday, he had a full bottle with the nurse in the morning, and took another full bottle from me at noon. At midnight today (Sunday), he finished another full bottle -- and did it fairly quickly.
He is getting much better at coordinating his breathing with his sucking and swallowing of milk. He even managed to do a series of 1-1-1's (Suck once, swallow once, breathe once; and then repeat), although he still mostly alternates between series of sucking followed by a swallow, and then a series of breathing before repeating.
It feels like he's on the verge of taking every feed from the bottle; and then, with 70%+ consumed at each feed, he'll be ready to go through his ad-lib feeding test.
