The car seat challenge

While doing his 9pm feeding tonight, the nurse reminded me that Jac will need to have his cart seat challenge...

We don't have a car seat yet -- Jac is too small to use one, so we're having an infant car bed loaned to us for the first month -- but when it's time for him to move up to the car seat, we'll test Jac's ability to ride.

The car seat challenge involves hooking him up to the pulse-oximeter while he sits in the seat for an hour. The idea is to make sure his oxygen level will be good during a long drive. I suspect his ability to hold his head up will be key to passing the test... Right now, Jac's neck isn't all that strong.

  1. Don't worry, most babies can't hold their head up. They have these little head supports you can get at Target to go in the car seat. Simon used his for the first few months.
