When a baby is born prematurely you talk about their "adjusted age" until they are 2 years old. Jac was born 9 weeks and 1 day premature on 7/10/07. His due date was 9/12/07. So when we talk about Jac's adjusted age we are talking about his age from when he was originally due. By this count Jac's adjusted age is 3 1/2 weeks old - although by the date he was born he is almost 3 months old.
This adjusted age is used for calculating things like height and weight percentiles and development milestones until age 2. After age 2 preemies are considered to have caught up and you use their birth date for calculations after that rather than their adjusted age.
