Tonight Jac had a small breastfeeding session with the nipple shield. It lasted about 7 minuted during which he sucked and swallowed and seemed fairly content to do it. I have no idea how much milk he got during this session but it was enough to sedate him for about half an hour.
When we tried it again later in the evening he was not opening his mouth wide enough to get a good latch and he got too frustrated to get anything.
I am very excited about the first session though! We will keep on working at it.
We have increased his bottles to put 70 ml in each bottle! This seems like a lot for a little guy and we have been having some spit-up problems. I am hoping once we get to just breast milk we will have less trouble with flatulence and spit-ups.
