My milk supply has gone down precipitously this week. Last week was tough taking care of him all by myself during the day (with some very important help from Auntie Leslie). I am now pumping every 2 hours (even at night) to try to bring my supply back up. I am currently only making slightly more than he is eating.
I am very worried that right before we get to breastfeeding I am not going to have enough milk. Augh!
All of you breastfeeding mothers please reassure me I will get it back if I work at it! Augh!
I am working to get help for a while during the day until we are able to start breastfeeding!

I know milk supplies can go up and down, and that it can be hard to keep a supply up with a pump. Definitely get help, and keep talking with your lactation consultant. After all you and Jac have been through, you both totally deserve a nice relaxing nursing relationship for a while! It will be worth it when you get there. :)
ReplyDeleteTaj - Sorry I've been away from the blog for a few days. Stress and not enough sleep can really affect your milk supply. Pumping every 2 hours is great but make sure you try to get a 5 hour stretch of sleep if you can at night. Your supply was well established and should come back easily. I will send you more ideas in email. Hang in there! Karen B.
